Private sheep farm Marlborough Sounds, NZ

Labourer 

General business of running the farm as per the farmers instruction. Pulling weeds, constructing fences, felling trees, shearing sheep, building sheds, mustering etc.

Knowledge Gained

Entering workforce from school. 

Coping with transition to adulthood.

Learning that my decisions were my own and I was accountable for them.

Experience

TNL Freighting Nelson, Cadet 

General labouring in general freight yard, workshop, store etc. While doing this I completed a cadetship that took in logistics, planning, legal requirements.

Knowledge Gained

Establish a home in Nelson and secure employment with training 

Completed cadetship at the top of the 82 intake.

Further develop social and work relationships.

Polish maturity.

  

1984 - 1985

Experience

Barclay Brothers Construction Alice Springs

Labourer 

Leading Hand, TIO project. Ensure contractors had necessary equipment and space on a large building site. Keep the site tidy and complete fiddley jobs.  

Knowledge Gained

Gained higher tolerance of others with different ideas. 

Learned where my physical and mental limits were.

Experience

Youngs Brewing Company. London, United Kingdom

Bar and Cellar Manager 

Prepare a selection of naturally brewed beers, other cellar requirements and ordering. Supervise the bars and staff including hiring/firing. On site accommodation to ensure security.   

Knowledge Gained

Exposed to acute responsibility (managing staff etc)

Different cultures and habits to cater for while maintaining efficiency.

Highest takings ever for a day and night in Pub's history at the time. - how we got there.

Operator / Foreman

Production of medium density fibreboard. I worked through many different positions as the company required and to better skills and qualifications. I also managed a large group of workers to ensure production in a safe and proficient manner.

Attached to this is the process of going through personal grievances, ACC issues, developing and applying Health and Safety procedures, mediation, workplace restructure and developing transition processes, sustainable growth and membership management, develop and maintain workable relationships with employers and employees, assist with dysfunctional relationships in the work place, develop productivity incentives to ensure efficiency that leads to business growth.

Established a sole charge West Coast based office. 

Helped numerous employers and employees through a variety of simple and very complex issues.

Domestic

I live in Blackball. My children,  Taylor is 19 and off to Kansai University in Japan on a scholarship in 2011, Georgia is 16 and attends Waimea College in Nelson. I enjoy home and have been on the West Coast since the start of 2007 although I have been servicing the West Coast area from Nelson since 2004.
